Follow these steps in order

1. Remove and discard the base and any damaged outer leaves.

2. Separate all leaves individually.

3. Soak the leaves in water with a small amount of dish soap or vegetable wash.

4. Agitate thoroughly, ensuring all leaf surfaces are exposed to the water.

5. Remove the leaves from the water.

6. Pour the water through a thrip cloth placed inside a strainer.
